2026 Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby Local Race

On May 3, 2026, racers, families, volunteers, and spectators gathered at Partin Park in Lyons for the 2026 Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby Local Race. With 29 racers participating, the day was filled with excitement, competition, and community spirit as racers took to Derby Hill for a chance to earn a spot at the Soap Box Derby World Championships in Akron, Ohio this July.

Racers competed in three divisions including Stock, Super Stock, and Master Stock. Throughout the day, participants showcased determination, sportsmanship, and skill as they raced down the hill in hopes of becoming this year’s local champions.

Congratulations to this year’s division winners:

• Weston Claxton — Stock Division Champion
• Sophia “SoSo” August — Super Stock Division Champion
• Isaac Pickels — Master Stock Division Champion

Each division winner will now advance to represent Lyons and the Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby at the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby World Championships in Akron, Ohio this summer.

The Southeast Georgia Soap Box Derby continues to be a growing tradition in Lyons, bringing families and communities together while creating unforgettable experiences for young racers. Events like these would not be possible without the support of volunteers, sponsors, parents, and community partners who work hard each year to make the races successful.

We are incredibly proud of all 29 racers who participated in this year’s event and wish our champions the very best as they prepare to compete on the national stage.
