The Real Squeal BBQ & Music Festival began as a grassroots effort to celebrate the spirit of Lyons while creating an event that would bring people together and support the local economy. What started as a modest community gathering has grown into one of Southeast Georgia’s signature fall traditions and a major fundraiser for Lyons Main Street. Now in its 17th year, the festival draws thousands of visitors from across the region to experience championship barbecue, live entertainment, local artisans, and the warm hospitality that defines our community.

Held each October, the two-day festival offers something for everyone. Friday evening in Downtown Lyons features the Backyard BBQ Contest, BBQ Sauce Contest, vendors, festival foods, a Classic Car Cruise-In, live music, a community street dance, and a spectacular fireworks show. Saturday at Partin Park shifts into our Real Squeal Car Show Competition, variety of arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment, children's activities, an Indian Artifact Show, Magic Show for kids, and plenty of family-friendly fun. Whether you're a serious barbecue enthusiast, a music lover, a shopper, or simply looking to make memories with family and friends, The Real Squeal offers an authentic taste of small-town Georgia at its very best.
