2025 December Recap
December was a special time in Lyons as we celebrated the season with meaningful traditions and new beginnings.
We began by honoring individuals in our community who have a true heart for giving by designating them as the Grand Marshals of the Lyons Lighted Christmas Parade. This year, we were proud to recognize Melvin and Diane McBride. It was a joy to celebrate this wonderful couple and share in the excitement as they learned they would be leading the parade. Their dedication, generosity, and love for our community make them the perfect pair to guide us into the holiday season. Through their involvement with Lyons Community Church and their longtime commitment to Tales from the Altamaha, they have made a lasting impact on our community.
On December 5th, we hosted the Lyons Lighted Christmas Parade. A little rain did not dampen the Christmas spirit, as the community showed up in a big way. We extend our thanks to all participants and to everyone who joined us along the parade route to celebrate the season.
On December 18th, we introduced a new tradition with our first Santa on Main event. With special appearances from Santa and the Grinch, along with arts and crafts, hot cocoa, and cookies, it was a fun-filled day for families and children. We had a great turnout and enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship with our community. We look forward to continuing this event as an annual tradition.
December truly highlighted the spirit of Lyons community, generosity, and togetherness and we are grateful to everyone who helped make the season so special.
